Ashkenazi Practice with Chanuka Candles

Hi and thank you for the great article on chanuka lighting.
In the paragraph regarding lighting as mehadrin, your write “This makes it difficult to understand common Ashkenazi practice, that in households with adult male members, it is customary for women and girls not to light Chanuka candles, even when every male member of the household does so.”
You probably meant sepharadi practice, nor ashkenazi, right? Would make more sense with the Rambam which you just quoted and the general ashkenazi vs sepharadi practice you mentionned as well a bit earlier.

It is actually very common in many Ashkenazi households that women don't light candles even when all the males do.

You are correct that it isn't immediately obvious how this makes sense, which is why we prefaced our comment by noting that it is "difficult to understand" and then went on to discuss some possible explanations for it.

Thanks for reading so carefully and Chanuka Sameach!
